5 freedom funnels for time starved freelancers

By Sandy

You’re a busy service provider. Time isn’t exactly a luxury you have.

But what can you do? Between luring in clients, providing the service, chasing down invoices, and taking care of admin tasks… the day. is. done.

That’s why smart copy is so important.

Copy should be your go-to tool to help save time and maximize your results.

When I first started freelance copywriting, I was stressed all day. I was constantly trying to fill my pipeline, which meant a few hours of typing up proposals each morning.

And what that really meant was a few hours that I wasn’t charging clients. Plus, rewriting sales pitches every day meant I couldn’t optimize my copy (because I didn’t have a baseline to compare it to).

Can you relate?

One of the first things I did was create pitches for each type of proposal I created. This allowed me to do two things that really helped my business take off:

  1. I could test the copy and optimize it. Then, I could predict returns because I could see my close rates.
  2. I saved a TON of time because I wasn’t starting from scratch every day.

Saving time and having predictable close rates allowed me a lot more freedom during the day and peace of mind. If I hadn’t done that, I definitely would have burnt out early on.

But sales and marketing aren’t the only places you can optimize your copy. And you can even take it a step further than I did by combining spectacular copy + smart automation.

When you do that, you end up with a HUGE time saver and much more freedom.

If you don’t have standard copy ready to roll, let’s get some together for you!

Below are five copy pieces that are must-haves for any service provider.

Your upsell sequence.

Would you like fries with that?

When your customers purchase something from you, they are showing interest and expressing their trust in your services. Why not give them an opportunity to make the most of the experience?

Upselling will show them what’s possible with their purchase, and help you make more with every sale.

Consider which product could be upgraded, and create the copy to go with it.

Place that copy in an autoresponder, or add an upsell page to your sales sequence.

Are we a fit?

Let’s find out… during this automatic sales sequence…

My are we a fit copy allows my clients to screen themselves before I take the time to get on the phone with them. This means that when we do chat for a sales call, they likely already know that they’re interested. This makes the sales call easy-peasy. They’ve seen my prices, they’ve seen my portfolio, and they’ve self-selected themselves to move forward with the sales process.

The affiliate sale

Let me give you a recommendation for that…

Even if you’re not “an affiliate marketer” per se, having affiliate products at your fingertips isn’t a bad thing.

And if you’re a service provider? Even better. This is a quick way to scale without having to hire a team or work 48 hours a day (or at least feel like you’re working that much)!

Welcome

Hey hey… glad you could make it.

Your welcome sequence serves an important purpose – you’re initiating new prospects into your world. This is a great time to build your know, like, and trust factor.

Consider all the things you want a new prospect to know about you, and bundle them up into a welcome series that also adds a ton of value for your readers.

Link to interviews where you drop tons of value bombs, link in your core content, and of course, your philosophy and opinion on the industry.

By the end of the series, your prospects will have a much better idea of who you are and how you operate.

The pre-sell sequence

Warm ‘em up!

If you’re getting ready to release a new product, service, or content series (like a podcast, Kickstarter campaign, web show, etc.), start by warming up your audience.

Pre-sell sequences should slowly begin to break down your audience’s objections.

Objections aren’t always about you. Objections are very often about your buyer. They might doubt their abilities, their skills, their determination…

So each email within your sequence should seek to build them up until they’re ready to take action… juuuuust in time for your launch 😉

Of course, there are more.

But if you don’t have these in place, I encourage you to start here.

Pick the sequence that you feel will add the most value to your business right now, and put it into place.

If this is your first time creating a sequence, it might take you a few hours a day for a few days or a week (if you’re juggling other things).

Or, sit down and create it in just one weekend.

Whatever you do, make the time. The investment will pay off.
