10 helpful questions you need to ask when booking a speaking gig

By Sandy

You got booked! Congrats!

Now what?

Before you start planning your talk, you need to know some pretty important facts about the event and the audience before you dive in and start creating this presentation.

But what should you ask? What will really help you to create a talk that is on point and completely focused?

Below is a list of questions that I find helpful when preparing a presentation.

  1. How long is it?
  2. What’s the format? (Q&A? Roundtable?)
  3. Are audio /visuals allowed? And how will I get that to appear on screen (send in ahead? USB the day of?)
  4. Who is the audience?
  5. Why are they there?
  6. What time is my presentation?
  7. Who else is speaking?
  8. What’s the purpose of this event?
  9. How big is the audience expected to be?
  10. What are you hoping to take-away from this talk / why did you invite me?

Now it’s your turn – what do you like to know before you take the stage?
